Survivor Rob still on top of his game
On Thursday television viewers saw that the former Felixton College pupil is still a strong contender for the grand R1-million prize and title of ‘Ultimate Survivor’ as he made the last six

Zululander Robert Bentele (29) continues to outwit and outsmart his opponents on Survivor SA Island of Secrets – at least on the recorded version of the programme currently being broadcast.
On Thursday television viewers saw that the former Felixton College pupil is still a strong contender for the grand R1-million prize and title of ‘Ultimate Survivor’ as he made the last six.
Over the past weeks he has been navigating his way into the hearts of millions of viewers across the country while outplaying his competitors on the Samoan island. His ability to form alliances has seen him overturn plots to vote him off the island. Last week, Rob opened up about his experience.
How was your first few days on Survivor?
It took some time for my body to adjust, but within the first week everything was fine. My mind and body were in the game, and I managed to have fewer food cravings.
What has been your strategy?
Charming my teammates and rivals, as well as forming alliances and good relationships with the right people, working on their loyalty. I make a fire for them every morning and worked closely with them and used my ability to fish and other qualities to my advantage.
How has the experience changed your life?
I have evolved as a person and started appreciating the small things we normally take for granted. When you are at home it is very easy to take for granted that you wake up and open a fridge and get food, but on Survivor you have to work hard for everything, even for what to eat.
How did you manage to cope and navigate a game of so many twists and betrayals?
I worked on my body and mind every day.
How do you feel about reaching the final six?
I am thrilled to have come so far and at representing Zululand. I’m grateful for the overwhelming support from all the people back home, especially my former school, and I hope I make them proud.
The support has been amazing and I can’t wait to see everyone after the finale.
