UPDATE: Numerous arrests made in Richards Bay violence
The unrest is expected to come to an end following extensive negotiations

The city should start returning back to normal in the morning.
After extensive meetings with all stakeholders, City of uMhlathuze Mayor Mduduzi Mhlongo said a short while ago that negotiations to put an end to the problems had been fruitful.

Meanwhile, more than 40 people have appeared in court in connection with the violent protests that gripped uMhlathuze since Monday.
The majority were arrested on charges of public violence, but some were charged with looting and others with assault.
This morning (Wednesday) saw more arrests and they are expected to appear in court tomorrow.
