MEC warns against socials ills
Mavimbela addressed hundreds of women at the annual uMkhosi Wesivivane event held at the Khangelamankengane Palace in KwaNongoma over the weekend
THE KZN MEC for Art and Culture, Hlengiwe Mavimbela, has urged women to unite in the fight against social ills.
Mavimbela addressed hundreds of women at the annual uMkhosi Wesivivane event held at the Khangelamankengane Palace in KwaNongoma over the weekend.
The ceremony between last Wednesday and Sunday was attended by his Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini, amakhosi, izinduna and government dignitaries.
Mavimbela said women had a significant role to play in the well-being of the country. She said the event coincided with Women’s Month, which signifies the importance of women.

‘Without women, this country is nothing. Women are the pillars of our society. Even though there are many challenges women face, it is crucial they unite and fight against the scourge of women and children abuse,’ Mavimbela said
She further urged women to fight against crime by not allowing their children to bring in stolen goods to their homes.
‘We must stand against substance and alcohol abuse. We must further focus on agriculture to fight against hunger and poverty in our society.
‘We do have agricultural advisers in our society, and they are capable of teaching us on how to do gardening,’ she said.
