New library on the cards for KwaDlangezwa
The KZN Department of Arts and Culture has started a procurement process for the appointment of project managers who will design four libraries, which include one in KwaDlangezwa

MORE than R78-million has been budgeted for the construction of new libraries and the completion of those already being built across the province.
The KZN Department of Arts and Culture has started a procurement process for the appointment of project managers who will design four libraries, which include one in KwaDlangezwa.
‘The libraries we build are world class facilities with top standards and boasting internet facilities and access to modern information systems. This is indeed worth celebrating, especially given the high levels of illiteracy in the province.
‘These projects will see hundreds of job opportunities being created during construction and permanent jobs for staff employed to run these libraries,’ said MEC Hlengiwe Mavimbela.
She said R262-million will be transferred to local municipalities toward addressing the provision of public library services and plans to increase the number of libraries offering free internet access are in place.
‘Specialised library services include toy collections to help entice young children to 36 libraries and gaming equipment available in 65 libraries. These services are geared towards attracting the youth to use the libraries for recreational purposes.
‘The public libraries also provide materials to support students studying at various tertiary institutions and learner support material to aid learners in schools,’ Mavimbela said.
