Sweet Wholesalers goes up in flames
A massive fire erupted at the Sweet Wholesalers building in KwaDukuza CBD
BLACK smoke hung over KwaDukuza on Sunday, signalling a fire that broke out at one of the town’s long-standing businesses.
Mahatma Gandhi and Linsley Street were closed to the public after the sudden fire erupted at the Sweet Wholesalers building situated in Stanger CBD on Saturday.
The fire department spent close to six hours putting out the fire and reported that no one had been harmed in the disaster.
Despite rumours that the blaze may have been the result of an electrical fault, KwaDukuza Municipality media liaison officer, Sipho Mkhize said an inspector had visited the site to confirm the cause.
‘We have requested a report from the fire department which should give us more details. We also do not have the estimated costs of the damages.’
