eSikhaleni electricity restored

Last week’s power outage was caused by cable theft, according to Eskom

AFTER almost a week of electricity supply problems in eSikhaleni, full power was restored on Friday.

The problems arose last Monday as a result of cable theft when the Zircon substation was vandalised.

Eskom technicians said control plant cables from the high voltage yard to the panels and cables from the transformers were stolen, and three feeders were affected.

They immediately reconfigured the feeders so electricity could be supplied from another substation.

The breakdown has now been completed and all customers’ power restored.

‘Eskom would like to thank the eSikhaleni customers for their patience while repairs were taking place and apologises for any inconvenience that this fault caused.’
