THE Zululand Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZCCI), eShowe business people and the uMlalazi Mayor, cllr Thelumoya Zulu, sat down recently to discuss the Chamber’s activities during 2013.
The engagement provided an opportunity to network and to learn more about the ZCCI.
‘It is hugely beneficial to have a forum of this nature….it creates an opportunity for collaboration of the two organisations for the betterment of economic development in the town,’ said ZCCI manager Charmayne Pountney.
During the lunch-meeting, the ZCCI invited local athlete, Justine Palframan to give a presentation of her training and achievements to date.
‘It was an opportunity to acquaint the mayor with the wealth, talent and community spirit that eShowe has to offer.
‘Thus far we have introduced the municipality to the work of local artist Diamond Bozas, and this time we invited Justine,’ said Pountney.
After the meeting it was decided that Palframan would be asked to address local schools during 2014 to motivate and encourage them with her athletics story during 2014.
The year ahead promises to be an exciting one for the ZCCI.
An entrepreneur competition is in the planning stages.
‘We will also be launching a Chamber office early in 2014 and business services.
Our SMME and emerging businesses need a place to come together and we need a visual presence in the town,’ said Pountney.
