Business forum to drive opportunities for Ward 26
Attended by 49 business owners, the elected office bearers and committee members were ushered in through an independent process and incorporated representation from both suburbs
ENSURING local businesses in Ward 26 benefit from developments and opportunities within the suburbs of Aquadene and Brackenham, a Community Business Forum was established during a meeting at the Brackenham Community Hall on Thursday night.
Attended by 49 business owners, the elected office bearers and committee members were ushered in through an independent process and incorporated representation from both suburbs.
The aim of the forum is to engage with the local councillor in ensuring information about developments and business opportunities are shared with all business men and women in the community.
Elected Chairperson Sandile Myeni said whatever business opportunities come into the ward belong to business people in the area.
‘We cannot allow a situation where people from outside Ward 26 come and access our opportunities.
‘However, it is unrealistic for us to think that everyone here will get opportunities because there will never be enough for everyone.
‘We do not want to give residents false hope but we want members of our communities to benefit from the projects in our ward.
‘This committee does not exist for self gain and self enrichment, and we will continue to work as we have in our interim situation.
‘We want to enrich the business people in this ward, for them to benefit from the opportunities and ensure what becomes available is know to everyone and equal opportunity exists for all,’ said Myeni.
