More bad news for new vehicle sales

According to, The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa, new car sales saw a decrease of 5.7% or 2444 units when compared to May 2018.

The drop in sales is attributed to subdued economic circumstances, low consumer and business confidence levels, less disposable income in households and negative global economic growth forecasts. However, the medium and heavy truck segments saw a small increase in sales, reporting an increase of 0.3% and vehicle exports also reporting a positive 20.1% increase for the first five months in comparison to 2018.
