KwaDukuza mayor bids farewell
In his farewell address last Friday, Mthembu thanked the ANC for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the district
OUTSPOKEN KwaDukuza mayor Ricardo Mthembu has ended his eight year tenure and will now serve as an MPL in the provincial parliament.
In his farewell address last Friday, Mthembu thanked the ANC for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the district.
‘I’m honoured by your respect, humility and the good chance that I have been given. Leading this institution was never easy; I have had sleepless nights, minding the well-being of the homeless and the infirm as well as the stability of this institution.’
He told officials to become ambassadors of the institution as the KwaDukuza Municipality is growing with speed, coupled with a vision of becoming a city by 2030.
Over the years, KwaDukuza Municipality has been a multiple winner and runner-up of the KZN Govan Mbeki Awards and has consistently obtained unqualified audit outcomes since 2011.
The former deputy mayor Dolly Govender will be serving as acting mayor.
