IT amazes me when I look at how beautiful our country is and how little some of us care about it.
The litter situation is getting worse and worse.
You cannot move in a public area or park without seen piles of trash just left there.
Every weekend Naval Island and Pelican Island look like a rubbish dump with bottles, cans and plastic bags strewn all over the place.
Even parking areas like the space outside Empangeni’s public swimming pool is an absolute eye-sore.
Why are we as the public not doing anything about it?
Why has it become acceptable to just stand by and watch as people with no disregard for anyone else just leave there rubbish behind?
It has got so bad that on a daily basis I see people throwing rubbish out of car windows which is beyond me.
I must admit I don’t see any way I can help this situation though.
I have approached people and asked them to please clean up after themselves and I was laughed at and then verbally abused.
Unfortunately it can only stop if each and everyone of us just show a little respect for each other.
We all share this planet so let’s work together to save it.
Although in a world where rape, murder and fraud, to name a few, are becoming daily incidents what hope do we really have?
