That furry little sweet-dispensing bunny will soon be on our doorsteps, and while the kids are positively giddy with the anticipation of finding and gorging themselves on Cadbury’s finest, Easter can be fun for the adults too.
Here are a few fun games to try out while the kids lie in a sugar-fuelled coma.
The traditional hunt
Why should hunting for candy-coated chocolate eggs be reserved just for the kids?
Take some time to carefully hide the eggs and let the adults loose – the one that finds the most eggs is the winner!
The best thing about hiding for adults is that you can really hide the eggs, none of that ‘easy-to-find’ nonsense you have to do with the toddlers.
The key, though, is to remember how many eggs and where you hid them.
Scavenger hunt
Take it a step further with a town-wide scavenger hunt.
Although this is going to require a bit more preparation, it’s lots of fun and will keep your friends entertained for hours.
Hide eggs with clues at venues across the town, with the final clue bringing everyone back to the party venue. First team to the final location wins.
Drinking game hunt
With a drink in hand, send your soon-to-be-inebriated guests into the garden where they will find eggs containing instructions such as ‘take two sips’ or ‘nominate a drink’ or you could take the ‘I have never…’ route.
Eggy-shaped jelly shots
Using an egg-shaped mould, make some colourful jelly shots with your preferred tipple and hide these – in containers – around the house.
Send your mates on a hunt and they can either have the shot or nominate it to someone with poorer hide-and-seek skills.
Truth or dare
Time to take it up a notch with a version of Easter truth or dare.
Hide the truth prompts and dares in eggs around the house or garden and, once they’ve all been found, guests can nominate others to perform the dares or give some fun truths.
Try not to make this too serious, avoid truths like ‘why did you cheat on Jen last year?’ or ‘punch Jeremy in his ugly face’ – otherwise it is most likely going to be the last gathering of this kind.
Easter brunch
Think scrambled eggs, carrot sticks in your Bloody Mary, mimosas and some form of Easter egg-infused pudding.
You can get everyone to dress up in their Sunday finest and include a personalised little gift in a plastic egg for every guest.
