Community champion Richards Bay girl’s serious medical cause

Rhyah Sai, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, tragically contracted septicaemia shortly after birth which resulted in her suffering multi organ failure and severe brain injury

LOCAL car clubs are driving a massive charity run and car show event this Saturday to raise funds for a six year old Richards Bay youngster who requires stem cell treatment in India.

Rhyah Sai, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, tragically contracted septicaemia shortly after birth which resulted in her suffering multi organ failure and severe brain injury.

The young girl defies the medical world daily and despite being diagnosed with cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia, having global development delay and being medically complex with a host of conditions and complications, she continues to make small progress each day.

Local car club, Alpha Boys Crew has teamed up with North Coast Riders and BKS Car Clubs to raise funds to support Rhyah who has the opportunity to visit India for stem cell treatment, to attempt to repair her brain injury and heal her kidney condition.

The event, Warrior Princess Run, costs R50 per entry and takes place at 1pm; motorists and bikers can meet at Townsquare Mall and the convoy will proceed at 2pm to Naval Island (Shaky Rocks).

This will be followed by the Car Show Fund-raiser at 3pm at Townsquare Mall where competitions will be held for Show ‘n Shine, Sound, Low Limbo and Street Glow.

The community can find more information on her Facebook page ‘Raising Rhyah Sai – Our Warrior Princess’ which was created to keep family and friends updated on the brave youngster’s healing journey, give hope to and inspire other parents who may be experiencing a similar situation, create awareness on cerebral palsy and other medical conditions, and help fund-raise for Rhyah’s medical procedures.
