Close call for surf skier

A HOLIDAYMAKER from Pretoria had a close call on Friday when his surf ski capsized near Pelican Island, leaving him to swim to shore.

The man’s wife had alerted members of the public after she noticed he had got into difficulty.

The NSRI was notified and launched sea rescue craft Spirit of Round Table II.

NSRI duty crew located and recovered the capsized surf ski, and found the man safely ashore.

He was treated for lacerations to his hands, sustained from climbing over rocks.
