NFP Deputy President Sindi Mashinini dumps the party

'During our recent meeting, I made it clear that Mdletshe was not allowed to be part of the NEC meeting. I raised that point in the presence of Magwaza-Msibi, but all MEC members turned against me,' said Mashinini

NATIONAL Freedom Party Deputy President Sindi Mashinini has a new political home after resigning from the NFP on Tuesday.

Mashinini announced on Friday that she has joined the United Democratic Movement (UDM) and resigned because of internal challenges which the party failed to resolve.

‘The most problematic issue was the interference of Canaan Mdletshe, the spokesperson of NFP President, Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi.

‘During our recent meeting, I made it clear that Mdletshe was not allowed to be part of the NEC meeting. I raised that point in the presence of Magwaza-Msibi, but all MEC members turned against me,’ said Mashinini.

She further accused some senior members of the NFP of attempting to hijack the party as Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi is still recovering from her illness.

‘I have now joined the UDM and I have to make it clear that I did so without expecting any position or deployment from them,’ she said.

NFP spokesperson Sabelo Sigudu described Mashinini as an opportunist who failed to lead the party.

‘We only learnt about her resignation through social media. She did not submit any resignation letter to our offices.

The party will do much better without her,’ said Sigudu.

Mdletshe distanced himself from the accusation of interfering with the NFP NEC meetings.
