District shines at SA Junior Chess Championship

More than 2 100 players participated

THE King Cetshwayo Chess Association (KCCA) has praised the good performances of its members who recently competed in the 2018 South Africa Junior Chess Championship in Boksburg last month.

More than 2 100 players participated.

‘This time we had a new age group, under eight, added to our team.

‘This team performed exceptionally well in their first nationals and earned third place in the B section,’ said team coach Lisa Griffiths.

The following players won board trophies:

U8: Owen Stead – Richards Bay Christian School

U14: Keane Reddy – Richards Bay Primary

U14: Mbuyazi Mawande – Brackenham Primary

U20: Shoba Lundi – Langalibomvu High School
