Endurance swimmers clock good times
The event was well supported with 117 individual and 45 relay team entries
						ENDURANCE swimmers tested their fitness levels when competing in the recent Fish Eagles 1 000m swim held at the Empangeni Municipal swimming pool.
The event was well supported with 117 individual and 45 relay team entries.
School teams included St Catherine’s School, Richards Bay Christian School, Richards Bay Primary School, Empangeni Preparatory, Felixton College, Richards Bay High and Thuthukani Special School.

The Youngest Finisher Trophy went to six-year-old Hanré van Schoor, who completed the 1km swim in 28 minutes and 7 seconds.
On the other end of the scale, 78-year-old George Gibson bagged the Oldest Finisher Trophy in 38.51.79.
Richards Bay Christian School received the award for the most school entries with 10 teams, with Thuthukani Special School receiving the most entries award by a disabled team. They had 32 swimmers competing.

Most entries by social groups went to ‘Are we thin yet’, with team Baaitjie Babes bagging the overall fastest team trophy in a time of 16.07.85.
Alan Smith was the fastest male swimmer for 2018 with a time of 12.18.00, with uShaka Swimming Club’s Sharon Crous bagging the fastest female award in 12.27.82.
