John Ross sinkhole repair well under way
Repairs carried out before potential disaster could strike
MOTORISTS can breathe a sigh of relief as repairs to the subsiding ground adjacent to the westbound carriageway on the John Ross, near the Arboretum intersection, are well under way.
Work began early this morning (Thursday) and is set to be completed by the end of the day.
The ZO reported on the issue some months back, when the ground, which is above a storm water drain, first showed signs of potential collapse.
The City of uMhlathuze reported the matter to the KZN Department of Transport which is responsible for the provincial road.
The issue was not immediately attended to and cracks started appearing in the right hand lane, causing much concern among motorists.
