Police to monitor booze sellers

‘Trading hours will be closely inspected as well, especially in cases where outlets are close to churches and other religious organisations' said Capt Mdlalose

LIQUOR outlets and taverns will be placed under the microscope this festive season.

Police will be on the lookout for those operating without liquor licenses or serving alcohol to underage children and will have no mercy to offenders.

This was the promise by the King Cetshwayo Police Cluster spokesperson, Capt Mbongeni Mdlalose, saying those who will break the liquor trading bylaws will face the long arm of the law.

‘Our job is to monitor and ensure all traders follow liquor acts and regulations.

‘We will be the watchdogs this festive as we aim to reduce cases related to alcohol and ensure that children are not served in these establishments.

‘Trading hours will be closely inspected as well, especially in cases where outlets are close to churches and other religious organisations.

‘We will continue to ensure all alcohol we confiscate in these places is destroyed and those who break the law are charged accordingly, ‘said Mdlalose.
