Time running out for old SASSA cards
The South African Post Office (SAPO) has warned that the old white card will expire on 30 December and payments will not be deposited into it in January 2019

SOCIAL grant beneficiaries who are still using the old South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) card have until December to switch to the new gold card.
The South African Post Office (SAPO) has warned that the old white card will expire on 30 December and payments will not be deposited into it in January 2019.
‘According to SASSA, there are about 600 000 SASSA beneficiaries nationally who have not yet switched to the new gold SASSA card.
‘Visit any Post Office branch, present an identity document and you will be issued with the new card within minutes.

‘The new SASSA card can also be obtained from SASSA offices nationwide.
‘Special arrangements are made for immobile beneficiaries who cannot visit a post office.
‘These beneficiaries (or their relatives) should call the SASSA toll-free number 0800 60 10 11 to arrange for a home visit,’ the SAPO said in a statement.
Beneficiaries who are not comfortable using a PIN can present their ID document to make a withdrawal inside the
Post Office branch using biometric authentication instead of a PIN to withdraw the funds.
The Post Office said it is ready to pay close to eight million grants through the new gold Sassa card this month.
‘Social grant recipients are advised that monies will be available at the Post Office on 31 October.
‘Withdrawing the SASSA grant at the Post Office is free.’
