SARS late payers feel the heat

QUEUES outside the Richards Bay SARS office stretched as far as the eye could see today (Tuesday) as Zululanders late in filing their tax returns were forced to stand, or sit, for hours in the heat of the day.
As at 2.30pm, the long line of deadline tax submitters snaked out of the office doors, curled around the outside of the building, almost the length of the parking lot.

Armed with their lunch and getting comfortable on deck chairs, those near the tail-end of the queue had moved about 20m in two hours.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) is D-Day for those who are yet to submit their tax return as tax season this year was shortened by a month.
