Richards Bay Rotary Tea and Talk a success

The Tea and Talk was held on Saturday morning at Blue Marlin Guest House and included such topics as bone density testing, Botox, Slender Wonder and flower arranging

AFTER a series of informative talks organised by the Richards Bay Rotary Anns, the ladies who attended their morning tea are more knowledgeable about a variety of health and cosmetic procedures.

The Tea and Talk was held on Saturday morning at Blue Marlin Guest House and included such topics as bone density testing, Botox, Slender Wonder and flower arranging.

Dr Wim Watson piqued the ladies’ interest with his facial rejuvenation talk and Botox carried out on Rotary Anns’ Cheryl MacFarlane, who volunteered for the procedure.

He reiterated the fact that Botox is not the same as plastic surgery and the goal of Botox is for harmony, balance and restoration of facial proportions.

By relaxing the facial muscles, Botox gives a more youthful look by decreasing the prominence of wrinkles caused by stress.

He also spoke about dermal fillers and how they are used to plump up cheeks and lips.

Dermal fillers last for about a year while Botox lasts only three to five months.

Chemical peels to resurface the skin, and threading to lift, contour and volumise were also items on his agenda.

Motselisi Mosiana then took the podium to talk about the importance of bone density testing, which should be done every two years.

A bone density test is the only test that can diagnose osteoporosis before a bone is broken, and it helps estimate the density of bones.

Anien Watson then gave a flower arranging demonstration and included some useful hints and tips on the art of floral arranging.
