SPCA open day draws the crowds

Clothing, household items, trinkets and books were among the goods bought by the many visitors, while the food stand was, as always, a winner

RICHARDS Bay SPCA was a hive of activity on Saturday morning as it opened its doors to the public for the monthly open day.

The monthly open day not only brings in much-needed funds for the cash-strapped organisation, but also gives members of the public the opportunity to visit the kennels and cattery, and adopt their next family member.

Items to be sold in their second hand shops can be donated to the SPCA at the Meerensee premises in Bayview Boulevard, and food donations are always welcome.

At this time of year, as Guy Fawkes and New Year approach, the SPCA gears up for an influx of abandoned, stray and injured animals.

It is also breeding season so donations of kitten and puppy food are desperately needed for the youngest animals that come through their gates.
