THE Madadeni High Court has found Scelo Mdletshe (23) guilty of the murder of 48-year-old Busisiwe Nzuza, principal of the Khomo Primary School in the Nkandla area.
The court sentenced Mdletshe, of Qomintaba Area Obuka outside Empangeni, to 20 years imprisonment and he was deemed unfit to possess a firearm.
The sentencing arises from an incident on Monday, 2 January 2017 when Nzuza was driving along the R34 from Empangeni to eShowe with her two relatives and Mdletshe and another male and a female, asked for a lift.
Nzuza agreed and one man and the woman asked to be dropped off in the Masangweni area.
When they reached the R34/R66 intersection at Nkwalini, Mdletshe jumped out of the vehicle, drew a firearm and demanded Nzuza to get out of the vehicle.
