Free eye screenings for diabetic patients
If diabetic retinopathy is detected early enough, treatment can stop it from getting worse.

Diabetic patients are invited to make use of free eye screening tests offered by Melomed Private Hospital Ophthalmologist, Dr Shaneel Singh, on Friday (19 October).
Dr Singh will be conducting free diabetic screenings in commemoration of Eye Awareness Month.
People suffering from diabetes are urged to book an appointment as soon as possible.
A maximum of only 50 patients will be screened.
Book your appointment by phoning Dr Singh’s rooms on 035 7721631.

About diabetic eye screening
Diabetic eye screening is an important aspect of diabetes care.
People with diabetes are at risk of getting diabetic retinopathy, a condition that could cause blindness if it is left untreated.
Diabetic retinopathy occurs when diabetes affects the small blood vessels, damaging the retina of the eye.
In the early stages, there are no obvious symptoms – which is why regular eye screenings are crucial.
An eye screening will detect the condition before the patient notices any changes to his or her vision.
If retinopathy is detected early enough, treatment can stop it from getting worse.
Otherwise, by the time symptoms become noticeable, it can be much more difficult to treat.
