THE annual Santa Shoebox Project, which collects gifts for underprivileged children countrywide during the festive season, is in full swing and boasts a new information and tracking feature.
A Santa Shoebox app can be downloaded from Playstore and allows the donor to pledge, track and receive notifications when their box has been delivered.
This year Richards Bay and Empangeni are joining forces to reach more children and community members are invited to support the project and help them reach a million shoeboxes by next year.

To date 762 594 shoeboxes containing eight prescribed items have been distributed to underprivileged children in South Africa and Namibia.
The success of the initiative can largely be attributed to its personal nature, as donors give gifts to children whose first names, ages and genders are known.
The initiative is supported by an extensive network of volunteers and corporate sponsors pledging financial or pro-bono support.
