IN THE ZO TODAY: Clampdown on how public officials may behave online

The City Mayor has launched a social media protocol programme

POSTING, tweeting, sharing or even liking anything amounting to hate speech, or reflecting political, religious, sexual or racial bias would be dealt with in the strictest possible manner, said City mayor Mdu Mhlongo.

He made the warning during Wednesday’s Exco meeting, where he warned staff that social media conversations are permanently available to the public and that they often circulate well beyond the user’s intended audience.
