A CRIMINAL attempting to steal a motor vehicle in KwaMsane Reserve near Mtubatuba on Wednesday night was intercepted when a resident discarding a bucket of water stopped him in his tracks.
Thandeka Dube said she had opened the front door to throw out some water at around 9.30pm when she came face to face with a suspect who had unlocked her brother’s vehicle and was in the process of pushing it out of the yard.
She did not notice him at first because he was crouched down at the driver’s side of the vehicle with the car door open.
However when he got wet, he confronted her and she assumed it was her brother’s friend and went back into her house.
Meanwhile, her brother had heard the conversation and went outside to investigate, where he found the suspect at his vehicle.
The man ran off but was apprehended and later arrested by police.
