Cold front predicted to hit SA on Sunday: Prepare for a chilly week ahead
Lishubisa umkantsha! (Extremely cold weather)
IT could well be a freezing start to next week as a major cold front is expected to hit SA by midday on Sunday.
Temperatures could drop far below those of the weekend’s cold front which hit parts of northern KZN.
According to a statement issued on Storm Report SA’s Facebook page, the latest cold front would be attributed to yet another intense anti-cyclone system over the Atlantic Ocean at the weekend.

As a result of this, many parts of the country, including the south-west Cape and Drakensburg, may experience snowfall as sub-freezing night temperatures will plummet drastically.
‘As the anti-cyclone system begins to move past in the south, a second front will move in in the south-eastern and eastern areas from Monday to early Wednesday, and further light snow can be anticipated for the southern and north-eastern Drakensberg with sub-freezing night temperatures over much of the eastern interior and highlands. From Monday, the eastern side is likely to penetrate far into KZN and approach Gauteng.’ the report said.
