Pongola learner stabbed to death at school

'He was a quiet and gentle person so we are very frustrated about his death...'

THE FAMILY of Phumlani Malinga (21), who was killed after he was stabbed at Somile High School in Pongola last week, are seeking answers.

His sister, Thabisile Malinga (23) spoke exclusively to the ZO and said the family is devastated by the death of her brother.

According to reports, Malinga was involved in an altercation with a 19-year-old learner who had had just completed his school suspension.

The incident is believed to have occurred during the school break on Tuesday when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed Malinga in the chest.

Malinga was declared on his arrival at Altona Clinic.

The suspect was arrested and is facing charges of murder.
