Opportunity for university students

The Fellowship programme is open to first- and second-year university students from specific universities

ALL first- and second-year university students have the opportunity to apply for, what has been termed, the most comprehensive and stimulating university Fellowship opportunity in southern Africa.

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is inviting all young, entrepreneurially-minded first and second year students to apply for the Fellowship programme, before its closing date on 17 August.

The Fellowship’s entrepreneurial and personal development programme runs throughout the academic year alongside the Candidate Fellow’s university studies.

It provides access to university education, which includes comprehensive tertiary financial support to selected students.

Among other things, the Fellowship covers the full cost of university tuition, the full cost of university accommodation plus meals, books and tutor allowance, a monthly living stipend, and academic support and access to an entrepreneurial and personal development programme.

First-year university criteria includes a minimum average of 65% for 2018 mid-year (June) exam results, studying towards a degree in commerce, science (excluding medicine), humanities (majoring in politics, philosophy or economics), engineering or law, and studying at one of the following universities: WITS, UJ, UCT, NMU, Rhodes, UWC, Stellenbosch, TSiBA, UFS or UP.

First-year applicants must be younger than 22 when applying.

Criteria for second year students includes a minimum average of 65% for 2017 year-end exams and 65% in 2018 mid-year exams, with the same subject and university criteria as for first-year applicants.

Second-year applicants must be younger than 23 when applying.
