A TOTAL of 55 refrigerators were recovered by SAPS members conducting crime prevention duties at Mananda outside Gingindlovu on Thursday, 19 July.
The police were following up on information about suspects in possession of suspected stolen property at three locations in the area.
At the first house, they found 37 new refrigerators.
A 31-year-old man was arrested for the possession of suspected stolen property.
The members then proceeded to the second homestead where they arrested another suspect (28) after finding nine refrigerators, three microwaves and two washing machines.
A further nine refrigerators were found at a third house.
The police suspected that the property was stolen from the refrigerator factory.
The suspects failed to give satisfactory explanations as to how the items landed in their possession and were then placed under arrest.
The two suspects will appear in the Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court in due course following investigations to find the rightful owner of the property.
The estimated value of the suspected stolen property is approximately R155 000.
