Four dead in weekend crashes in Zululand
Two cases of culpable homicide will be investigated by SAPS
AT LEAST four people were killed in two separate accidents at the weekend.
Three people died on Sunday afternoon after a private minibus taxi lost control on the N2 near Honey Dew Farm.
Reports indicate that the driver of the minibus, which had been carrying five passengers and travelling toward Richards Bay, lost control of the vehicle before it veered off, hitting two trees before coming to an abrupt halt.
This resulted in three of the passengers, who were seated behind the driver, being flung out of the vehicle after the sliding door derailed and was flung from the car.

The driver of the vehicle and two other passengers were critically injured following the incident and were transported to hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile one person died in a crash on the R34, between Ndlangubo and Empangeni Milling, on Saturday evening.
The collision, involving a VW Golf and Mazda, resulted in the death of the passenger of the Golf while uMhlathuze Fire and Rescue had to utilise the Jaws of Life in order to extricate the entrapped driver of the vehicle, who sustained moderate injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Mazda sustained moderate and minor injuries respectively.
Damage to both vehicles indicate that it was a head-on collision, however both vehicles are reported to have been travelling in the direction of Empangeni at the time of the accident.
