THE value of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife Honorary Officers is enormous and they deserve the highest praise.
Speaking at the year-end function for the uMhlathuze District Honorary Officers group held at the Meerensee Boat Club on Thursday evening, EKZNW District Conservation Officer Kevin Green paid tribute to the volunteers who take a lot of load off the shoulders of the permanent staff.
‘The patrols you do, the coastal clean-ups, the golf days and a host of other things make you indispensable to us,’ he said.
Green handed the trophy for the ‘Honorary Officer of the Year’ to Minks Emmerson, who has been the group’s secretary since she began seven years ago.
The HO’s did their work in fine spirit, with plenty of camaraderie, which led to the ‘Stirrer of the Year’ award going to AJ Woolridge and ‘Chirper of the Year’ to Ferdi Duvenhage.
