Suspects nabbed with unlicensed firearms in KwaMakhuta

Firearms and ammunition was found in possession of the suspects

TWO suspects have been arrested in KwaMakhutha for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on Monday.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Zwane, said police acted on intelligence-driven information about the suspects, who were planning to commit a crime in the area.

‘Police went to a taxi rank in KwaMakhutha searching for the suspects, who they believed were in possession of unlicensed firearms.

‘When they arrived at the rank they spotted a vehicle with suspects fitting the description given to them.

‘When they searched the vehicle they found a R5 rifle, two pistols, a grinder, electric extension cords, gloves and 60 rounds of ammunition,’ said Zwane.

‘The suspects, aged between 19 and 46, were placed under arrest and will appear in the Nsimbini Magistrate’s Court soon.’
