One dead in N2 U-turn collision

AN accident involving a KZN EMRS vehicle and a VW Polo Sedan on Sunday afternoon on the N2, near the Engen garages, resulted in the death of one person.
According to reports, the driver of the VW Polo, travelling northbound, attempted to make a U-turn on the national highway, when he collided with an emergency vehicle which had also been travelling northbound.
The driver of the VW Polo is believed to have died on scene while his 14-year-old grandson, who was in the passenger seat, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Melomed Hospital for further attention.
The KZN EMRS vehicle, which had been transporting a maternity patient, overturned with the driver sustaining minor injuries and the passenger and patient sustaining moderate injuries.
