Two die in Mtubatuba N2 accident
The accident occurred just before lunchtime on the N2 at Kwiliza, near Mtubatuba
TWO people lost their lives earlier today (Tuesday) when the car in which they were travelling hit a truck head-on.
The accident occurred just before lunchtime on the N2 at Kwiliza, near Mtubatuba.
According to police reports, a Toyota Rav 4 was travelling northbound behind a VW Polo when the driver of the Polo pulled out into oncoming traffic and collided with the truck travelling south.
The Polo’s engine was reportedly ripped out of the engine compartment and smashed into the Rav’s windscreen.
One of the Polo’s four occupants was flung from the vehicle over the barrier.
The Polo driver was declared dead on the scene, while the other male occupant was rushed to hospital where he was later declared deceased.
Two female occupants of the Polo were rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
The three Rav 4 occupants have also all been hospitalised with serious injuries.
Mtubatuba SAPS have opened a case of culpable homicide.
