DARWAIN Printers was the first company to heed the Zululand Observer’s (ZO) SPCA fund-raising challenge when it matched the ZO’s donation of R1 500.
Along with another individual’s donation, this now brings the total raised so far in the ‘ZO Cause for Paws’ drive to R3 100.
The ZO is calling on all businesses and corporates to step up and support the region’s three SPCAs by either matching or bettering its R1 500 donation.

The drive will run for the next three months and in each ZO edition a barometer showing the updated amount will be published.
Donors will be acknowledged for their contributions.
Once the fund-raising drive has come to an end, the money raised will be split equally between Empangeni, eShowe and Richards Bay SPCAs.
With animal food always in high demand at SPCAs, this is the item most often donated, leaving the NPOs to struggle with running and maintenance costs.
Fence repairs, leaking roofs, vet’s bills and blankets are other necessary items and expenses that are often overlooked by those not working for the SPCA.
So please support this initiative so the Zululand SPCAs can continue with their vital work in the communities they serve.
