AN 18-year-old woman was raped at Alkantstrand Beach in Richards Bay in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson Captain Debbie Ferreira the complaint opened a case of rape and robbery at the police station on Tuesday.
Ferreira said the young woman was walking along the beach with her brother at around 2.30am when they were accosted by two armed men.
They were robbed at knife point of their cell phones and as one of the suspect’s fled the brother gave chase, leaving his sister with the suspect who pushed her into the nearby bushes and raped her.
Police confirmed no arrests have yet been made.

No one ever deserves to be raped God knows we dont live in the best times but surely with knowledge of what actually happens here and around the world we would be more cautious…..honestly what is there to do at the beach at 2:30 in the morning ? brother left his sister with a theif to chase after material things !! my heart is broken for this girl and i pray that in time her wounds would heal, i pray that justice will prevail , but we need to stop being ignorant and realise this beautiful country we live in is not so safe anymore…..
