Last chance to fill up before June fuel price increase
The AA foresees further increases in the near future

MOTORISTS are reminded that fuel prices are set to soar again at midnight tonight (Tuesday), putting the price of petrol firmly over R15/litre.
This, however, is only the tip of the price increase iceberg as warned by the Automobile Association (AA), whose experts foresee the price of fuel shooting past the R16/litre mark next month.
With an 82c/litre increase on 93 and 95 octane fuel as well as on illuminating paraffin, an 85c/litre increase on diesel (0.05% sulphur) and 87c/litre for 0.005% sulphur, and a whopping 138c/litre increase on LPG gas, this is the biggest price jump in a long time.

Ninety-five octane petrol users can expect to pay R15.79/litre at the pumps, while 93 octane users will pay R15.54/litre and diesel users R14.19/litre.
According to both the Department of Energy and the AA, a reason for the increase was the depreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar during the period under review.
The AA said the deficit from April is also a factor.
