Leaders engage with community on safety
Working together with Umlalazi Municipality Mayor Cllr Thelumoya Zulu, the aim was to engage with the community and find ways to curb rising crime
OWING to numerous violent acts and the escalating crime wave at Ngudwini Reserve, the KZN MEC for Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Thomas Kaunda visited the area on Sunday.
Working together with Umlalazi Municipality Mayor Cllr Thelumoya Zulu, the aim was to engage with the community and find ways to curb rising crime.
Concerned residents were given a platform to participate in dialogue with stakeholders, which included the KZN CPF chairperson and other stakeholders.
During the session, residents were able to voice their safety concerns and identify the primary roots of criminal activities.
During his address, Kaunda condemned the violent acts previously engaged in by the community.
He encouraged residents to submit their grievances to relevant custodians peacefully, without violating other people’s rights.
The team also proceeded to Mombeni Reserve in Ward 6 where there had also been reports of unrest.
