THREE house robbers have been handed stiff sentences in the eSikhawini Regional Court after being found guilty of a house break-in they committed in 2015.
Nkosinathi Biyela (27), Sibusiso Khumalo (26) and Brian Xaba (25) were sentenced to 12, 10 and 8 years imprisonment respectively.
They broke into an iNduna’s home in Macekane and stole cellphones, clothes and an undisclosed amount of money.
The accused were arrested in 2015 by Empangeni Detective Sergeant N Zungu in Mevamhlophe after receiving information about their whereabouts from local informants.
Clothing and cellphones belonging to the iNduna were found in their possession.
Further investigations linked Xaba and Khumalo to a rape case through DNA tests.
