CRIMES such as house break-ins, robberies and rape have decreased in eSikhaleni compared to last year’s statistics.
This was revealed during a special monthly meeting between the police and Community Policing Forum (CPF) held at eSikhawini SAPS on Thursday.
CPF chairperson Muzobanzi Ntuli said the community is fed up with crime and has decided to intervene in ending the crime wave in the area.
‘The community’s commitment is to change their township and make it a crime-free zone and this has motivated others to be on the lookout and report criminal activities. We have also formed new CPFs in the area to assist us and more people are joining everyday.
‘It is very important to work together in fighting crime, because it affects us all,’ said Ntuli.
He also highlighted that young people were getting more involved and will be conducting night patrols during the festive season.
Last week, the community held a meeting at uMkhobose Reserve trying to come up with more ways to reduce crime.
‘We will be assisting the police by pointing them in the right direction. If we know there are drug dealers in the area, we will then report it to the police. A major problem is that the community doesn’t speak up even if we know who the perpetrators are, ‘ said one resident.

I stay closer to Khula High School,in my area we are so together and we normaly have community meetings. And it helps, people in other sections should try it,it works.
I thing its very difficult to report drug dealers in the community, because we always see them getting arrested and coming out the next day.We don’t know who is paid 4 dat
