Community urged to protect valuable municipal facilities
An appeal was made at the official opening of the new expanded Ngwelezana Community Hall last week
CITY of uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Slondile Mkhize has urged the Ngwelezana community to take ownership of municipal facilities and protect them against acts of vandalism.
She made the appeal at the official opening of the new expanded Ngwelezana Community Hall last week.
She said it was the responsibility of local communities to look after government buildings to avoid unnecessary expenditure.
‘We must protect this facility against bad elements such as drug addicts, who might see this as their new home.
‘The completion of this hall marks a new era for the Ngwelezana community.
‘You can now enjoy the privilege of holding meetings, weddings, church functions and even the youth involved in entertainment have been catered for.
‘This hall also has two councillor offices and boardrooms.
