Browse through the Easter events taking place locally

Thursday – 29 March

• Food festival in aid of the Richards Bay SPCA. Be sure to be at the Meerensee Boat Club on Thursday evening, where this month’s foodie’-fest fundraiser will be taking place from 5pm. There will be numerous food stalls to suit a variety of palates and a shopping night market. Musicians will provide live entertainment. Entry fee is R40 for adults and R15 for children.

• Club Rugby: The Mancosa Empangeni Rhinos will play visitors UKZN at Mick Kelly Park (Bain Street) in two matches at 7pm and 8.30.

Friday – 30 March

Richards Bay Baptist Church Easter service at 5 Rooibosrand, Arboretum between 6.30 and 7.30pm.

• Great Exodus Passover Conference at His Glory Worship Centre, KwaMsane (Mfolozi Street) . Conference runs from Friday until Sunday.

• Redemption in Christ Church is hosting a Passover Convention starting Friday and running through to Sunday. H2 section, eSikhaleni.

• The Caravan Club of SA (CCSA) 2018 Rally takes place at the Richards Bay Caravan Park all weekend.

• Bonanza Fishing Festival 2018 at the Richards Bay Ski Boat Club, starts on Friday and runs to Sunday, 1 April.

• Passion marches to mark Easter Friday will be taking place in Empangeni and Richards Bay. In Brackenham, the event and procession will begin at the entrance of Asplenium Grove at 10.30am, while in Empangeni the event will begin at the Old Mutual building at 12.30pm.

• Head to Mtunzini for the Beach Blast 2018, which is taking place all weekend. The event will include loads of activities, a talent show, Easter egg hunt and silly Olympics. Saturday – 31 March

The DR Church in Mtubatuba is hosting the annual Carnival at the St Lucia Town Hall from 9am. Food stalls, entertainment, games, crafts.

• The Bay United Football Club is hosting a memorial eleven-a-side soccer tournament at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex, open for teams of U13, U15 and U17. Info 072 2847111.

Sunday – 1 April

Easter Service at Solid Ground Church, Empangeni (R102 to Felixton, R5 turnoff at signboards) at 8.30am. All welcome.

• The second round of the 2018 National Hotrod Tour is taking place at the ZCBF showgrounds in Richards Bay from 8am. Admission is R100 for adults and R40 for children.

• Sunday sessions with DJ Pavara hosted by Makhekhe’s Corner, Enseleni (1528 Ugagane Street) from 3.30pm until late.
