AN eSikhaleni teenager who was brutally raped by her stepfather, saw justice served when her tormentor was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment in the eSikhawini Regional Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday.
The victim was only 14 years old when the incident happened in December, 2015 in the Nsimbini Reserve in eSikhaleni.
It was revealed in court that the girl’s 45-year-old stepfather took advantage of her after he kicked her mother out of their house after a quarrel.
He threatened her with a knife and repeatedly raped her.

After the incident the young victim fled to her grandparents’ house and attempted to commit suicide. She was taken to hospital where she told a nurse about the incident.
The matter was reported to the eSikhaleni police and referred to the Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit.
The stepfather was then arrested and had several court appearances.
