Double gold for sprint queen Justine

ESHOWE’S sprint queen Justine Palframan teared up the track at the ASA Senior Athletics Championships at Pretoria University over the weekend, claiming double gold in the 200 and 400m sprint events.

In the first of four heat in the 200m she cantered through to the semi-finals in 23.96 seconds, followed by Robyn Haupt (24.12) and Chanté van Tonder (24.50).

In the semis Palframan again crossed the line first in 23.06 seconds, beating Nabeela Parker (23.76 seconds) and Simone du Plooy (24.52).

In the final her gold medal winning time was 22.97 seconds, ahead of Tamzin Thomas and Lente Pieterse who finished in 23.12 seconds and 23.70 seconds respectively.

In the 400 metres Palframan bounced back after finishing second in her heat behind Rorisang Ramonnye, taking her second gold in 51.31 seconds, with Ariane Nel (53.97) in second and Marlie Viljoen (54.07) in third place.
