Empangeni and Kadenza in rampant form

DEFENDING women’s champions Empangeni drilled Vets 5-1 in the second round of the Zululand Hockey League at Grantleigh Schools on Sunday.

The Kadenza men’s side picked up free points when Mavericks forfeited their fixture owing to a shortage of player availability.

The final game on the day saw the Kadenza women’s side thump Richards Bay 4-0.

Teams will be back in action on Sunday in the third round, with Kadenza (women) and Vets kicking off the action at 8am.

This will be followed by a men’s fixture at 9.30am, when Empangeni and Kadenza lock horns.

Richards Bay’s women squad will then look to bounce back when they take on the University of Zululand at 11am.

Mavericks and Richards Bay (men) will do battle at 12.30pm.
