King Cetshwayo District mayor promotes programmes to build communities
King Cetshwayo District Mayor Nonhle Mkhulisi focuses on service delivery and community development initiatives
WHILE the King Cetshwayo District Municipality’s core focus is the provision of water and sanitation, programmes promoting education, radical economic transformation and service delivery remain a priority for District Mayor Nonhle Mkhulisi.
The strength of the district is its economic hub, tourism and heritage sites and while this is not the district’s mandate, Mayor Mkhulisi believes that improving economic activity in rural areas can enhance the lives of people living in outlying areas.
She was speaking during an exclusive interview recently with the Zululand Observer, outlining the district’s plans for the year.
Mkhulisi said that cities within the district have a big economic hub, however, there was no opportunity outside the area and this must change.
‘Rural development is important and the agriculture sector can enhance the economy and create employment.
