THE driver of a Durban-registered car was lucky to escape when the vehicle caught fire on the John Ross Parkway near the Bayvue Boulevard intersection at about 8pm this (Friday) evening.

City of uMhlathuze Fire & Rescue members were soon on scene and while they were unable to save the vehicle they did manage to prevent the fuel tank from exploding on the busy highway.
